"Garden From the Ground Up" Organic Community Garden

The "Food From the Ground Up" Oganic Community Garden is an organic, community - driven garden in Chesterfield Valley, Missouri, that was initiated by a desire to experience, literally, food from the ground up. Through a generous donation of land from owner, Jack Scharr of Fine Arts Limited, we are able to plant, maintain and harvest our own food.

With our first year successful; in food, in partnerships and lessons learned, we have already begun the 2009 planning for the garden.

This year:

1. The whole plot of land will be gardened as a community; no single plots.

We found that many people need to learn gardening or don't have the time to

tend their own and like the idea of learning and working as a community.

2. We will create a schedule to sign up for gardening tasks and events; every

member/family must commit to a minimum of 2 hours a week in the garden.

You can go once or three times a week if you like.

3. This year we will schedule educational classes to help our members learn

how to use their harvest; cooking, preserving, storing.

4. We are going to celebrate in our garden several times throughout the season!

  (eating is involved, of course)
